I’d been wandering for a very long time and just as I was getting ready to collapse, my daggers found purchase on grass. I flared my nares a little and I smelled water and foliage and…emptiness. There were old ruins of tee-pees and other gathering areas. I tossed my chestnut dial upward and then continued forward into this terra. I needed to explore and see what I could find. The sun gleamed brightly off my chestnut pelt, warming and caressing my chassis with those warm fingers. It was…comforting. I exchanged my meandering walk for an easy lope as I wandered through the grass toward the forest.
As I stepped into the forest the warmth from the sun started to fade a little but the cool within the cover of the foliage was pretty comfortable. As I trotted between the trees I heard a deep rumbling of water and I paused to listen a moment, debating which direction it was coming from then I figured it out. I pivoted slightly to my left and picked up my pace again moving toward the roaring water. A sight befitting a Lord met my mahoghany gaze. A lagoon, of the prettiest azure, filled my pools. The waterfall was crystal clear and I tossed my dial again.
Then I stepped into the water, it was cool, but not icy. It felt good on my sore pillars. I stood calmly in the lagoon until I decided to continue my explorations. The songs of the forest birds and the occasional scream from a wild cat rang out. This was my kind of place. I opened my voids and searched out a high point. As I scanned, I saw a cliff above the waterfall and knew that was where I was supposed to be. I stepped out of the lagoon and searched for a way upward. Behind a curtain of vines there was a path. I would share it with none but my love.
I ascended the path and soon I was at the point that I wanted to be at. I felt the breeze tugging on my tassels and banner and breathed deep of the air. Then I reared up, balancing all my weight on my hid pillars and parted my maw, my muzzle in the air. A very loud, very authoritative neigh was released and silenced the nearby creatures. I had called a claim to the land known as The Ruins. When my cry had faded into the distance I came back down and stood on the cliff top for a few minutes before descending my point and stepping back into the lagoon. I looked back toward the waterfall and figured it was hiding a secret, but I’d find that out the next day, for now I wanted to rest in the meadow and see if any would challenge my claim.
